Psychiatric Care

Dr. Tillemans

MD, Psychiatrist, Independent Contractor

Based in the Searcy clinic and services both clinic locations, Batesville and Searcy Arkansas.

Dr. Tillemans has over 20 years of experience in working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. As an experienced psychiatrist and therapist, he brings an approach of working closely with therapists and their clients, evaluating medication options which might facilitate better outcomes in symptom control and enhance the therapy process. He has experience in both outpatient and inpatient practice, residential care, therapeutic group homes, working with children with disabilities, Assertive Community Treatment, and a former board member of the Disability Rights Coalition.

Dr. Tillemans has an extensive history of experience in the field of pharmaceutical research, has provided consulting and served on advisory boards for numerous pharmaceutical companies in the areas of psychiatric medications. He has been a sought after lecturer and trainer to doctors across the country for the past 20 years in the areas of ADHD, Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizophrenia. In these roles, Dr. Tillemans has advanced his experience and knowledge of modern psychopharmacology while incorporating it within his values for providing an atmosphere of education and collaboration with clients and therapists to provide an environment of empowerment for the individual in making informed decisions regarding the potential role of medication management.

Critical to this mission is spending the time to listen and understand the needs of clients, answer their questions, and provide options which meet the unique needs of each individual and family. To meet those goals, Dr. Tillemans provides extra time conducting psychiatric evaluations and medication management sessions to avoid the all too typical rush of doctor appointments and the common refrain of “the doctor only spent 5-10 minutes with me, how do they even know me or what I need!” Dr. Tillemans has worked closely with our clinic to create a model in which these common limitations can be avoided and a comfortable experience to meet the needs of the client can be achieved. We are proud to have Dr. Tillemans join our team in collaborating with our therapists to provide the highest level of care possible for our clients.

Chelisa works collaboratively with each patient to develop individualized treatment plans where the patient is involved in his/her care and decision-making, that is tailored to best fit your life, your goals, and your values. When desired, faith-based principles can be integrated into care to promote overall healing. Collaboration builds therapeutic relationships and connection, which is important for healing. Chelisa is committed to creating a safe, welcoming environment where clients can openly explore their mental health needs by feeling seen, understood, heard, valued, and never judged while moving forward towards healing and stability with confidence and hope.

Her leadership abilities have been demonstrated throughout her career, particularly in roles of Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, and Clinical Director of Behavioral Health, where she oversaw daily operations, promoted staff education, and implemented best practices for patient care, and was responsible for the clinical oversight of multiple behavioral health units. She is a member of ARNA and ANA. She is a volunteer firefighter and first responder and has contributed to her community through many years of service. Additionally, she has been an advocate for crisis prevention and non-violent interventions, training healthcare professionals in crisis prevention and safety techniques. She is rooted in community and focused on healing. With her commitment, collaboration, clinical excellence, and genuine relationship connection, along with your active involvement in your treatment journey, growth, healing, resilience, and restoration are always possible. Chelisa is deeply committed to providing high-quality, empathetic, individualized, holistic, and evidence-based care to individuals in need, and continues to grow professionally through continued education.
